Rising like a phoenix from the ashes, DriveRite Tarmac Rally-X was reborn with a new spin on track fun at the Malacca International Motorsports Circuit (MIMC). The DriveRite Tarmac Rally-X is a refreshing opportunity to combine a short road trip to charming Malacca with a unique Tarmac Rallying experience.

Held on 26 March, the 1.7km long, and 10m wide racetrack filled with S-bends and hairpins had even more challenge added to it, with a “bus stop” and “cone slalom” elements added to the two main straights.

Making this event possible are the die-hard motorsport enthusiasts as well as sponsors ACMA Engineering Works & Trading Pte Ltd, DBA Singapore by TheBrakeShop SG, SuperPro by Godspeed AutoTechnik and QFM by APP SG.

Kicking off exactly at 7.30am with the registration, drivers were classified into five classes that are based on their car’s engine capacity and type. Class A was up to 1,600cc, B: 1,601-2,000cc, C: 2,001-2,500cc, Open: 2,501cc, plus a dedicated SUV category. New this round is a new SuperPro Class will be added for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place podium finishers from any event and any car, except open wheel cars such as Caterham 7. Registration for non-Singapore resident drivers for the SuperPro class was by invitation only.

The day was split into two parts, with the morning segment dedicated for a clockwise run of the circuit. The afternoon saw the same track being run in reverse. With such an arrangement, extra time was given for participants to have a “sighting lap” – where everyone could get ample seat time to master the different directions of the MIMC.

The cars at this installment was of great variety. While German and Japanese beasts like the M3 and GT-R were munching up the straights, the smaller and lighter cars like the Toyota Starlet and Suzuki Swift Sport were mincing up the tight obstacle-ridden track!

Sadly, the weather conditions suddenly dived, and the track was completely riddled with standing water in the later part of the afternoon. For the sake of safety, Driverite decided to prematurely end the event and tabulate the timings from earlier runs.

Representatives from the event sponsors graciously presented the prizes to the fastest drivers in the respective classes. In recognition of their strong support for this exciting event, the sponsors were also presented a token of appreciation by the organisers.

As MIMC has been closed for renovations, we are awaiting news for the next DriveRite Tarmac Rally-X event. In the meantime, you may visit for more information.
