It was the time of the year again where audiophiles in the mobile media industry gather to celebrate their love for in-car entertainment (ICE). In Singapore’s context, there’s no better way to congregate as a family within the spacious capacity of Automobile Megamart (AML), a venue that has hosted countless EMMA Singapore Heats and Finals. It came as no surprise that participants and fans of mobile media streamed in way earlier before the actual judging took place at 830am on Sunday, the 2nd of October. Not because latecomers would get a 10-point deduction, but due to the fact that they could mingle with fellow audiophiles!
It was yet another intense battle of the best, with major installers partaking in popular categories such as Best of Sound and Master OEM. What we love about such competitions would be the diversity of setups ranging from minimalist, right through to the fully decked-out mobile media beasts that could very well replace our home theatre systems! You could also identify compact coupes with smart installation solutions that discount the “disadvantage” of cabin space, or indulge in commercial vehicles making full use of its interior to engage the listener on the go. And for fans that prefer the aesthetic side of things, EMMA Racing had them covered with flamboyant vehicles modified beyond our wildest imagination – right here on our tiny island nation!
New Generation, with installer Cartoon leading the charge, had a fruitful outing by snapping up two key awards, “Best of Sound” and ”King of Sound” – no mean feat taking into account that these categories were packed with equally competent installers. The “Budget 5000” segment was awarded to Action Auto, and the “Entry 3000” category went to Dream Sound Car Accessories.
Foon Audio was also well in the game, snapping up the coveted “Master OEM” crown with a comfortable 6 points lead over the 1st runner up. Chuan Sing Auto Accessories Centre had their share of glory with a victory in the Multimedia 2.1 segment. Other victories went to Xtremez Audio Accessories, King Kong Audio and Alquest Sound Dynamics – worthy champions in their respective categories!
All these wouldn’t have been possible without the organisational skills and knowledge of the ever-present EMMA Singapore work group, along with a lineup of international judges that comprised of Marc Ayes from The Philippines, Kencana Saputra from Indonesia and Wayne Tung from Taiwan.
It might be yet another Heat for EMMA Singapore, but the camaraderie forged is testament to the fact that these mobile media events by EMMA Singapore represent a close knit group of like-minded audiophiles with a burning passion that never seems to wane. Salute!
